Swami Gahananandaji becomes 14th President of Math

Revered Swami Gahananandaji Maharaj was elected President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission at a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Math and the Governing Body of the Mission held on 25 May 2005. He is the 14th President of the Order.

Swami Gahananandaji was one of the Vice-Presidents of the Math and Mission since 14 April 1992, and succeeds Swami Ranganathanandaji Maharaj who attained Mahasamadhi on 25 April 2005.

Saikatesh Maharaj gets transferred

Swami Sivapradanandaji (commonly known as Saikatesh Maharaj, an ex-student of Vidyapith from 1976 H.S batch), Headmaster Maharaj of Vidyapith has got transferred from Vidyapith w.e.f 19th May, 2005. He served the Chair since 1995.
Presently he has reported Belur Math and waiting for further Orders for new posting.

The name of new Headmaster Maharaj of Vidyapith will be announced after the ongoing Summer Vacation.

Donation for academic cause

As part of Alumni Association's regular activities for past few years, an amount of Rs. 8400/- was handed over to the Ramakrishna Mission, Kamarpukur authorities towards sponsorship of a Student at Kamarpukur school.

Re Union 2005

The Alumni Association is going to conduct its 12th Reunion at the Vidyapith premises in December 2005. The tentative dates could be either 10th and 11th Decmeber 2005 or 17th and 18th December 2005.

Discussions are on with the Vidyapith authorities to finalize the dates which will be announced shortly.

Srimat Swami Ranganathanandaji attains Mahasamadhi

Revered Srimat Swami Ranganathanandaji Maharaj, the 13th President of the Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, attained Mahasamadhi at Woodlands Medical Centre, Kolkata, at 3.51 p.m. on Monday, 25 April 2005, owing to cardiac arrest. He was 96.

Sannyas of Amit Maharaj(Ex Student 1983)

Amit Maharaj, Ex-student of Vidyapith from 1983 Batch got Sannyas in the forgone Tithi Puja of Sri Sri Thakur at Belur Math. His Sannyas name is Swami Divyasukhananda. He follows Swami Gautomeshanandaji (Amiya Maharaj, 1968) and Swami Sivapradanandaji (Saikatesh Maharaj, 1976 HS) in the tradition of Ex-students becoming Monks of the Ramakrishan Math and Mission Order. The Association extends warm regards and best wishes to the new monk of the Order.

Amit Maharaj is presently posted at Vidyapith.

Appeal For Donations

Alumni Association since the last 3 years has been sponsoring the cost of education of a student at Kamapukur Ramakrishna Mission every year by contributing Rs 8400/- (Rs. Eight Thousand Four Hundred only). The aforesaid is handed over to the Authorities on 1st Baisakh every year. Considering the present interest rates, which is practically the main source of income of the Association, requests are being made for generous donations in this respect. Donations may be made individually or collectively as a Batch. Members may contact Sanjay Chatterjee(1988) for details.

Introduction of Fans at Vidyapith Hostels

Good news for present and future students. Very soon all the Hostels of Vidyapith are going to be equipped with Ceiling Fans. Work for the aforesaid is complete at Sivananda Sadan and soon to commence at the Senior Hostels.

Donation to Vidyapith

Alumni Association made a donation for Higher Secondary develpoment.
A sum of Rs 30000/-(Rs. Thirty Thousand only) was donated to Vidyapith for the development of Higher Secondary section on behalf of Alumni Association. The Cheque was handed over to Swami Atmaprabhanandaji Maharaj by Sanjoy Chatterjee(1988) on 1st March, 2005.

Various activities of the Association along with the ensuing Reunion was discussed with Respected Maharaj at the time of handing over of the Cheque.

Annual Picinic, 2005

Annual Picnic was held successfully on 26th January, 2005.
With great joy, endless adda, exiciting Cricket Match, intelligence test amongst the kids and wives of the members with beautiful prizes, the Annual Picnic was a great success. Members present with their families tallied to 120. The show was made further interesting with the delcious dishes from Queens Caterer owned by Sri Samar Maitra(1983). Alumni Association once again owns its debt to Dr Tapendra Mallik (1973) for giving a chance to conduct the picnic at his Mallik Kanan, Barrackpore.
