Swami Atmaprabhanandaji's appeal for renovation of prayer hall

Swami Atmaprabhanandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Vidyapith made an appeal for funds to renovate the Prayer Hall. As we visited the school during the recent Reunion, we found the Prayer hall is not in a very good condition and needs repair work. In line to this, Revered Maharaj has planned to wrap the Hall all the way up to the Panchavati tree with yellow granite stones. The Association requests all members to generously contribute to this.

Below is the excerpt of his appeal:

This is a sincere and urgent appeal to all our ex-students. The alumni association has been plagued by two major challenges and we solicit all to help the association in recovering from the overwhelming crisis that few of us are battling out.

  1. Shortage of Manpower
Mainly ex-students of 60’s are the active members of the Association who are now turning old and some passed away. Some members from latter batches are working hard to take the batton from them but the number is not enough. The result is that the Association presently cannot conduct much activities except a biennial Reunion and an annual Vijaya Sammelani. We want a sustained effort on continuous basis to take up activities to make some effective contribution to the society. To attain that goal, we need active participation from one and all of you in all possible manners. The problem is too few of us are trying to survive the onslaught of too many activities. This is surely not sustainable in the long run and we request support from members of all batches. We need people who can devote some time in a week or month for this voluntary work.
  2. Shortage of Funds
Life Membership (one-time contribution of a paltry Rs 415/-) is the main source of income of the Association. Of 3500 ex-students, nearly only 500 are life members. With the collected amount we had a fixed deposit which used to provide us a meager interest. In the meantime we had to spend for purchasing a small office to help smooth running of the association. And then came the Silver Jubilee celebration. To accommodate for these expenses (particularly the office purchase), we had no choice but to use the bank deposit as the collected amount was short of what was required.
Currently we are left with an amount whose interest merely allows us to sustain the sponsorship at Kamapurkur. Even day to day expenses like electricity, maid servant salary at the Association office are all borne by few members out of their personal love for the Association. The same holds true for Vijaya Sammelani expenses. We're running short of funds for hosting the website. Continuing with reunions seem to be a daunting task with present financial condition.
