Ex-student Saugata Datta part of NASA Lava Caves study

Saugata Datta, an ex-student from 1988 batch, and Geology professor of Kansas State University at present, is one of the primary investigators of a new NASA study that will use a robotic vehicle to explore and collect data inside caves at Lava Beds National Monument in Northern California. The interiors of lava caves are home to bacterial films and coral-like mineral structures — called mineral biomarkers — that could help identify similar features that would provide evidence for extraterrestrial life on Mars or another planet.

Ex-student Aniket Chattopadhyay directed film 'Kabir'

Aniket Chattopadhyay, an ex-student of Vidyapith (1980 batch), has directed a Bengali thriller named 'Kabir' which was released on 13th April.

All members are encouraged to watch the movie.

Ex-student Sandip Basu receives Faculty Research Award

The Association is happy to inform that Dr. Sandip Basu, an ex-student of 1988 batch, is going to receive the ‘Faculty Research Award’ to recognise the efforts of India’s brightest minds in the field of academic research. He will be honoured as the “Most outstanding Researcher” in the field of Health Professions.

The award is constituted by Careers360, a premier education advisory company. The selection is based on a composite score generated by evaluating his academic output in journals.

Ex-student renders Kathamrita in audio format

Amitabha Chattopadhyay, an ex-student of 1984 batch took a great initiative of making Kathamrita available in audio format and accomplished that.

Sri Swapan Bandyopadhyay to be felicitated

Backward Class Welfare Cell, University of Calcutta in association with Parul Prakashani will observe the Teachers' Day on 7th September, 2017. Fifty distinguished teachers and ten esteemed litterateurs, academicians and scientists will be felicitated on this occasion. The Association takes pride to note that our dear Swapan da aka Sri Swapan Bandyopadhyay, ex-teacher of Vidyapith, is among the ones to be felicitated.

The programme will be held in Dr. Meghnad Saha hall at Rasbehari Siksha Prangan (Rajabazar Campus), 92 APC Road, Kolkata - 700009 at 12 noon on 07/09/2017.

Film by Ex-student selected in Film Festival

Sourav Sarkar, an alumnus from 2001 batch directed a Bengali documentary film 'Nibhritochari' (নিভৃতচারী) which has been selected in 3rd International Film Festival of Prayag, New Delhi 2017.
The Association congratulates the director and encourages members to watch the film.

Daughter of Ex-student 2nd in Madhyamik, 2016

With great pleasure and pride the Alumni Association informs all members that Miss Titas Dubey who stood Second in the Madhyamik Examination this year from Simlipal Girls School, Bankura is the daughter of our ex-student Sri Soumen Dubey of 1985 Batch.

Ex-student to receive Lord Baden Powell National Award

Aswini Kumar Jha (1994 Batch) , second in command in RAF's 106 Battalion and currently posted in Sundergarh Camp office in Jamshedpur has been selected for the prestigious Lord Baden Powell National Award 2016 for his outstanding service to the humanity.

Feature Film Dugdhonokhor by ex-student

Sourav Sarkar, ex-student of from 2001 batch of Vidyapith, has directed a Bengali feature film Dugdhonokhor (দুগ্ধনখর) which is going to be released on December 11, 2015 in Inox South City Mall and PVR Diamond Plaza, Jessore Road. Sourav would like to convey his appeal to achieve the presence of alumni members in theaters to watch the movie.

Tickets would be available online, and at the ticket counters of the respective theaters as well.

Ex-student's story published in 'Desh' magazine

A story written by Prasenjit Sinha, an ex-student of 1987 batch, has been published at Desh (দেশ), a leading literary magazine in Bengali in the issue of 17th April, 2015. The name of the story is Nabajibaner Ankur (নবজীবনের অঙ্কুর) .
